Tryouts for the Spring 2011 Semester will be held Sunday, January 16th from 2 to 4:30 in Dance Studio 4. Auditions will consist of a warm up, across the floor, and two short dance combinations of ballet & jazz/hiphop. Please come 15 minutes early to stretch on your own!
Before Spring Big Show Auditions, Kathy Harty Gray will be leading a Master Class on Sunday, January 16th from 12 to 1:30pm. This Master Class is only open to PAC Members. After the master class Kathy Harty Gray will be selecting dancers to be apart of her Big Show piece. Kathy Harty Gray’s Master Class is a special opportunity to UMW Dancers. Ms. Gray is a graduate of the Juilliard School, and was trained by some of the great teachers including Martha Graham. She has performed at Lincoln Center, Festival of Two Worlds Spoleto, Italy, Wolf Trap Farm Park, the Kennedy Center and other theaters and institutions worldwide. Ms. Gray has over 30 years experience in teaching, choreographing and directing dance companies, including teaching dance at Mary Washington College. If you are selected for Kathy Harty Gray’s piece, this piece counts towards a dancers’ maximum of 3 Big Show peformances. Remember only PAC members are allowed to audition, please arrive at 11:45!
If you would like to choreograph for Spring Big Show 2011, you must submit your proposal to “mwcpac@yahoo.com” by Thursday, January 13th by 6pm. In order to qualify to choreograph for big show, you must have been in PAC for 2 semesters & choreographed for Small Show. On your proposals, please include: 1. your name 2. song title & artist 3. time length 4. number of dancers 5. style/theme/overall concept.
